Content marketing is where it’s at these days, and for good reason. Done correctly, it can produce large amounts of links, traffic and the resulting authority and rankings that go together with those. Even so many small businesses find themselves in the unenviable position of having a wealth of great ways to market, and not nearly enough time or resources to make them happen.

In order to stay away from that prospect, let’s check out five ways you can make your content marketing deliver exactly what you need.

Five ways to ramp up your content marketing

Use this plan as a starting point for developing your own content marketing initiative.

Develop a strategy – Content marketing can happen in many forms over many platforms. It’s extremely important to have a plan set up that maps this out, together with the goals and results you wish to achieve. Remember, content can consist of blog posts, articles, ebooks, videos, images, podcasts and more, and many of these can be repurposed to other platforms as well.

Form your budget – This type of marketing can cost real money. Make sure you have accounted for the costs of hours spent, and outsourcing before you begin.

Assign talent – If you aren’t lucky enough to have writers on staff, (as well as videographers and image designers) you will need to find them. This can be a time consuming task when getting started, so take note of this.

Tracking your results – If you aren’t certain what’s working, how will you proceed? Track your results using a tracking software. Google Analytics is fine for most people. If you need a more robust, enterprise level tracking software, they are available.

Rinse and repeat – Once you’ve got a handle on the type of content that your audience is responding to, be sure you do it again, but with different twists and slants, based on the feedback you’re getting along the way. This, incidentally, is what’s referred to as Agile Marketing.
