5 Quick Tips to Help You Dominate Local Search On Google

Despite the fact that your business website can be seen all around the globe, it matters little if you’re a local business who’s not seen in Google Local search results. This is where you bread gets buttered, and you need to be visible locally.

Since 1 in 3 searches in Google is now local in intent, and some 70 percent of searchers search online for offline services, it’s clear this is critical to your business. There are a number of ways that you can start to dominate your local search results.

5 Easy ways to begin to dominate your local search results

  1. Google+ Local Page – Making sure your business has a Google+ local page helps provide the probability to appear in local search results. By all means claim your Google+ Local page, and supply as much information as you can.
  2. Claim Your Citations – Citations are listings for your business on search engines and within social media. This can be on Facebook, Google, Bing, Yelp, and FourSquare, as well as a number of other sites. Claim your listings on these websites for the links and direct traffic they supply.
  3. Reviews – Getting reviews for your business, products or services is essential for ranking well on the Google local search results. Google views this as authority, and social proof. Make sure you enable your customers so they can leave a review by giving a link to where they can do this, preferably on your Google+ local page.
  4. NAP – This is an acronym for name address and phone number, and is a critical piece of your local optimization. Citations including this information are worth more, both in Google’s eyes and  in practical terms.
  5. Mobile – Studies are showing that three out of four mobile searches initiate follow-up actions, whether that means an actual store visit, social sharing or telephone call. Make sure your site is optimized for mobile, so you are able to take advantage of where so many people are headed in local search!
