LinkedIn has become ever more the go-to source for business leads and connections, but only if you are able to get out of the beginner mode. There are many great features which allow you to make connections, share content and extend your reach exponentially, but in order to make the best use of these you need to be not only active but smart.
To help you with that, here are 10 awesome LinkedIn tips to get you started.
Customize your profile URL – Be sure and customize your URL with your or your company’s name. This naturally lends an air of professionalism to your page.
Put a LinkedIn Profile Badge on your site – An easy task to do and a nifty tool for increasing connections and site authority. Pick from a few different designs.
Optimize your Company Page – Utilize all the features you can on your company page in order to make it stand out from the crowd.
Get skill endorsements – List your skills when you complete your profile, as many of your connections will not hesitate to make the one + click needed to give you an endorsement.
Leverage your LinkedIn Groups – There are two distinct advantages here: you can direct message members of the group who you are not connected with, and you’ll also be able to view profiles.
Make Showcase Pages – Peviously you would use the Products & Services tab, but no longer. Now you just need to create a Showcase Page to feature your products and services.
Directly mail your group – A cool little feature called LinkedIn Announcements allows you to directly mail the members of your LinkedIn groups once weekly.
Use Saved Searches – Did you know that you can save your searches on LinkedIn and they will automatically send new leads to you based on what your search criteria is? Very cool.
Ask Your Connections for Introductions – Mine your current connections and ask them to introduce you someone they are connected to that you would like to be. You’ll be surprised at how many will say yes.
Reorder Your Skills – Edit your skills to focus on the ones you’d most like to be known for, in addition to ridding the widget of the endorsements that have no picture. You might as well have it look good, right?
